VOICING THE MASK

Voice Movement Therapy and Mask Making Workshop

With USA trained Voice Movement Therapy Practitioner
Gina Holloway Mulder (BADA, PGDA, MAP, VMTR)

This creative and therapeutic workshop leads participants through two processes; the meditative and self-reflective process of making a mask which represents a specific part of the Self and, the process of finding, evolving and exploring the voice and movement aspects of this part of the Self.
This work links directly to the Voice Movement Therapy Subpersonality work and Carl Jung’s concepts of archetypes and active imagination.

Exploring the Self through mask and song is a creative, visual, tactile and physical process engaging the faculties of both the left and right sides of the brain.
The masks, as vessels of meaning, can be realistic, exaggerated, tribal, fantasy or other in styling. In their uniqueness they become a symbol of the Self, a three dimensional self-portrait, and a versatile instrument through which to explore the hidden dimensions of the Self.

The workshop also incorporates poetry, journaling and drawing as research and self exploratory methods. No previous experience in any of the modalities is required.
There is some pre-workshop self-exploration required.
